Lisbon Cathedral
The Lisbon Cathedral, commonly called Lisbon Cathedral, is the oldest and most important church in the city. Its construction dates back to the 12th century and its predominant style is Romanesque. His full name is Santa María Maior.
During its history the cathedral has been reformed on several occasions and is that, although it has survived in an exemplary way, it has suffered several natural catastrophes. The great earthquake of 1755 destroyed several parts of the church.
Cloister and ruins
The cloister of the Lisbon Cathedral has a style similar to that of the Monastery of the Jeronimos although its dimension is smaller. Inside the cloister you can see Roman, Arab and medieval remains that have been excavated in recent years.
The entrance to the cloister, although it requires paying a small entrance, is totally recommended.
Treasure of the cathedral
At the top of the cathedral you can visit the treasure. This is made up of four rooms with costumes, jewels and relics of different times.
