25th of April Bridge
With 2,277 meters long, the 25 de Abril Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in Europe. It has two heights, the upper floor for cars and the lower one, added in 1999, for trains.
After 45 months of construction, the 25 de Abril Bridge was opened to traffic on August 6, 1966 under the name of Salazar Bridge. At the end of the Revolution of the Carnations of 25 of April of 1974 acquired its present name.
Because of its similarity and being made by the same company, it is often compared to the Golden Gate of San Francisco.
